Our History
With a storied history, Kym Thompson has the classic background of hot junior surfer maturing into expert board designer/shaper. At fifteen years of age KT had a state junior championship under his belt and a couple of years of board building experience. It was in 1975 that he founded Watercooled surfboards in Torquay, Australia.
Kym Thompson has lived and worked in Thailand for the last ten years, after three decades surfing and making surfboards, Australian-born KT has shaped himself into one of the most accomplished surfboard designers of the world.
Watercooled surfboards have evolved since the 1970’s remaining at the forefront of board design, embracing the new technologies available and adapting to the changing nature of the sport. Three different construction technologies are used within the range in order to produce a range of boards suited to the varied surf conditions across the globe.
Today, Watercooled continues to work with KT, endeavouring to fuse cutting edge technology with premium shape designs in order to produce the highest performance boards possible.
